lithe frame walked quietly into the frost bit air. dark brown curls rested over her shoulders lifelessly as the female walked from the silver 2006 dodge ram 2500. the brisk air was yet to be desired, winter not being one of her most favouurite seasons, but it was hear and she had to deal with it. worn down cowboy boots left small prints in the fresh snow of the parking lot as the small frame worked her way to the barn. it was about nine o'clock and it was still fairly dark outside, the weather seemed to be trying to drive everyone to a great depression. Tiara turned before entering the barn to gaze over the multiple paddocks where she searched for one face, that she didn't see. many other quarter horses whinnied towards her and a small smile tucked at the corner of her features. her digits were hidden by a simple pair of white leather riding gloves and she entered the massive building that had a couple hundred stalls. the barn was bigger than she was use to, and she looked down the many stalls, then worked her way down the isle. back home in enlgand the world was much smaller. the barns only had twenty or thirty stalls, and multiple buildings, but the one big building sent a small amount of curiosity over her. it was new, and something that was growing on her.[/blockquote]
many of the horses spoke to her through their equine language, some of them had higher voices, while others were just nickering. the puffy black, white and baby blue ski jacket ruffled and made a massive amount of noise as she walked down the isle way. the weather here was much more different than what she was use to also. she'd heard of snow but where she was in england they didn't get much or any at all in some years, all she was use to was the damp cold air. here in alberta the air was dry, and the temperatures dropped much more dramatically than in england. at first with was hard to acclimatize too, but over the few weeks she's been here, she has noticed that it was getting easier to work in the cold. dark navy jeans ruffled together as she walked down the isle, still looking for that special horse, but of course, maddie had found her self lost multiple of times trying to look for tia. at times she'd walk right past the little quarter horse mare.
at last maddie found herself standing outside of the wooden stall that held the little dapple gray. The quarter horse wore a thick ebony stable blanket, and a pair of stable wraps. during the time that the couple have been in alberta, maddie noticed that tia wasn't adapting as quick as she had, and the mare had a hard time being outside and not freezing. compared to the rest of the horse's here, tia looked like she still had her summer coat, and well her legs would stalk up terribly due to not being able to go out into the paddocks. maddie's tried multiple of times to let the mare out, but within ten minutes she would just start trembling, even with blankets on. smiling lightly, the sparkly belt rested against the stall door and the torso of the small bodice leaned into the stall, where she found her gloved hand running along the dappled neck of the mare.
maddie grabbed the baby blue rope halter and wrapped it around the mare's delicate tiara and led the equine out of the stall. the mare had gone bare foot due to financial troubles, so it was like she was just floating alongside maddie. the brunette turned to look at the mare and gave a little giggle as she noticed the little excitement change as the mare perked up. the mare's crown turned to look inside on of the stalls, maddie's baby sapphire orbs fallowing to land on a man catching one pissy mare. he was young, yet older than her, and he looked like just about everyone else here. he was a thick winter jacket that was branded as 'carhartt' a cowboy hat and cowboy boots, a set of wrangles that was it. as she brought tia into a cross tie, she took off the heavy winter blanket and quickly brushed the mare. even though the barn was heated the mare still got chilled easy with people entering and exiting the barn.
once brushed, maddie grabbed all of tia's tack, which consisted of a plain ebony saddle pad, a medium brown reining saddle, with no silver with a simple basket weave pattern over it, then a simple bridle which had one ear, it was close to the same medium brown colour, no pattern on it and a simple, small shank. she was never into the full glitzed out horses, but when it came to showing, she did have a saddle that had little silver and a bridle that had a small amount of silver, but other than that, maddie enjoyed the bare basics. she looked at it as if it was more natural to the eye. maddie added a pair of black professional choice boots and then a pair of blank sliding boots on the back. after she was finished with preparing the equine for a steady work out, she untied the horse, bridled and then headed for the outside world. as the brisk air nipped at maddie's bare skin, she could feel her cheeks becoming pink from the cold, looking over to the quarter horse, she could see she was slowing from the cold air, and was fascinated by the warm air she blew from her nose that she could see.
having high hopes that someone would already have been in the arena and had the heater on for some warmth she approached the large building, and the gray mare had picked up a slow jog to keep up to maddie's shoulder. the petite frame opened the human door and lead the gray mare into the sand arena that had already proven itself to be warmer than the outside world. closing the door gently after noticing she wasn't alone, she spun around and walked the mare towards the middle of the arena, giving a light smile and nod toward the man. he looked familiar, and with a little persistent thinking she realized he was the man that was haltering the ultimately cranky horse. { mind if i join you sir? } her heavy english accent sang out into the large indoor arena. she flipped the split reins over the essa's nape and rested them infront of the western horn. she put a foot in the stirrup and lightly lifted herself into the saddle, her foot instinctively grabbing the other stirrup and the mare stood quietly, the reins unoccupied for the moment as maddie shuffled in the saddle for maxium comfort.
digits removed the gloves as she quickly tied her hair into a ponytail, then put the gloves back on and grabbed the reins of the mare, completely focused on herself and the horse rather than the male and his horse. any other girl she knew of would have been all googly-eyed for the man and his horse, as if they had never seen a man ride a horse, and well the curiosity got the better of her. eyes watched the male for a few moments, taking a mental picture of him so she could file it away in her memory with hopes of getting a name, but she wasn't going to push it. she was here to ride, not to socialize.... but if it got the far she wouldn't complain he seemed friendly and open to company.
